This year, JD Pamana Foundation in partnership with Victory Christian Church visited the region of Visayas, particularly Capul Island for its annual school supplies giving and 2nd quarter Medical and Dental Mission.
As early as March of this year, the team already visited areas in Samar and decided to conduct the activities at Brgy. Sawang, Capul Island. The communities’ major source of livelihood are farming (copra and rice grain) and fishing.
Being the chosen community, the local elementary school is also the chosen recipient for this year’s annual school supplies giving. It was also decided that aside from school supplies, books and other reference materials are to be given to the school to fill up their learning resource center.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES GIVING
Last June 2, the team of JD Pamana Foundation and Victory Christian Church went on a 13 hour road trip to Samar. Before the team left, prayer for the group safety travel was lead by JD Pamana President, Mr. Dan de los Reyes.
A pump boat await the team when they reached Matnog in Sorsogon. Together with the team, each of the boxes of school supplies and boxes of boxes were carried into the boat.
After the long road journey and almost an hour of travel in the water, the island of Capul can be seen from afar. The team, though tired from the long travel, are ecstatic to see the community of Brgy. Sawang.
Upon arriving at the island, the team rested for a while, and at 3 in the afternoon, the activity of school supplies giving started. Many of the residents helped in the transfer of the boxes of school supplies and books to the school.
The program started with a prayer lead by Ptr. Dante Andarino, followed by a message from Ms. Julie Parungao, JD Pamana Foundation Treasurer, the word of God by Ptr. Ronelo Fulgado, Senior Pastor of Victory Christian Church and the Head Teacher of Sawang Elementary School, Mr. Glenn Patrick Catucod.
A total of 252 elementary students, from kinder to grade 6, accepted the school supplies with smiles on their faces.
Books and other reference materials from donors were also given to the school to fill up their Learning Resource Center. Aside from the books, school uniforms were also turned over to the school.
MEDICAL MISSION
On June 4, as early as 7 in the morning, preparations for the Medical and Dental Mission started. The community decided to conduct the activity in the premises of Sawang Elementary School with the permission of the Head Teacher, Mr. Glenn Patrick Catucod.
Residents of the community also started to gather at the school early in the morning.
After registration, services that were given to the residents were:

Dental
Pharmacy (Free medicines)
The activity that started 7:30 am and ended 5:30 pm served a total of 613 patients
Due to the large turnout of the residents seeking medical assistance, a total of 61 volunteers helped in the said activity. Each of these volunteers received a pack of Unilever Products as a token of appreciation for their services.
After the activity, various medicines were given to the Doctor Irene C. Cinco, Head Doctor of the group.
The whole team has worked together to have a successful medical and dental mission. Even the parents and teachers of the school also helped by cooking meals for the volunteers and patients during the event day.
DONATION OF AMAZON NET FOR FISHING
Since Capul Island is surrounded by water, fishing is one of the main source of livelihood. Aside from school supplies and books for the benefit of the school, JD Pamana also donated four (4) rolls amazon net and 28 kilos of nylon cord for making their bobo fish trap needed by the locals in fishing. The rolls of nets were turned over to the Barangay Captain, Mr. Eluid Suan.
