Yearly, the Philippines experience being hit by tropical depressions, storms and typhoons. It is not different this time around as the country once again had a share of heavy downpour. Monsoon rains enhanced by Typhoon Maring caused most of the areas in Metro Manila and other areas in Northern Luzon to be submerged in flood having most of them declared under the state of calamity. Since Sunday, August 18, 2013, continuous downpour was experienced that continued for four consecutive days, causing suspension of classes and work on some areas affected.

The typhoon left at least 5 casualties and hundreds of thousand families with flooded homes. But the “bayanihan spirit” of the Filipino emerged on these kinds of incidents as various forms of assistance were extended to the victims. With this, JD Pamana Foundation, through the government office Department of Social Welfare and Development extended assistance to help the flooded victims.
