Last May 23,2017, an armed conflict started between Philippine Government Security Forces and the Terrorist Groups including Maute Group, Abu Sayyaf Group and Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ( ISIS ) in Marawi, Lanao del Sur Mindanao,when the terrorists attacked Marawi because they wanted to declare a territory in Lanao del Sur.
They occupied several buildings, universities, hospital, city jail, main streets, and churches in Marawi. Several houses were burned, many were killed, wounded and some are missing.
90% of Marawi’s population of more than 200,000 people has been evacuated to Iligan City. President Rodrigo Duterte already declared a martial law in Mindanao. And the Government started organizing donations and relief operations for the victims of this crisis.
Different Government Agencies and different nations around the world offered assistance,be in financially for the rehabilitation of Marawi,some are extending their humanitarian aid meant for people affected in the conflict.Some has pledged to support to feed displaced Marawi school children studying in temporary learning spaces.Others donated relief goods.
In our own way, JD Pamana Foundation, did it’s share in helping through financial donations to Department of Social Welfare and Development, the agency who plays a major part in distributing help to our countrymen. And above all, we pray. We pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this time of crisis. We pray for wisdom especially for the victims of Marawi.
