SCHOOL SUPPLIES GIVING
This year, JD Pamana Foundation team in partnership with Victory Christian Church, went again to Capul Island. This time, not only one but two schools were the recipients of school supplies. The schools are Sawang Elementary School and Landusan Elementary School.
The team came during the week of the Brigada Eskwela. Brigada Eskwela is an annual program held by Department of Education two (2) weeks before the official start of classes, it harnesses the community spirit for schools.
“The annual Brigada Eskwela is our version of modern ‘bayanihan’ where all sectors pitch in to make sure that our schools are clean, safe, disaster-prepared and conducive to learning when students troop back to the schools in June,” Education Secretary Armin Luistro said in a statement.
First stop upon arriving at Capul Island is the Landusan Elementary School. The students together with their parents as well as the school personnel headed by Mr. Ramir Castillo, Landusan Elementary School Principal welcomed the team when we arrived at the school premises where they prepared a simple program. Also present during the said program is Ms. Anecita Marzol, District Supervisor Division of Northern Samar.
Even at high noon, the students lined up and gladly receive their school supplies after the program.
Afterwards, the team then proceeded to Sawang Elementary School where another program awaits the team.
The team were also welcomed by the school community headed by Mr. Glenn Patrick Catucod, Sawang Elementary School Principal.
The students, some together with their parents, waited patiently during the program.
Pastors Ronel Fulgado and Pastor Nick Paderes of Victory Christian Church gave words of wisdom to the school community especially the students.
The students received their school supplies after the turnover ceremonies were made.
Last year, the team noticed the old chairs used by the students.
Sawang Elementary School were in for a treat, as not only school supplies were given to them this year but also 250 sets of school chairs.
Also, the Foundation gave school supplies to the Daycare students of Barangay Sawang.
Through these donations to the school, the Foundation hopes that the students will be inspired to continue to strive harder to finish their studies.
